Annotation

The article presents the theoretical and methodological foundations of the historical geography of tourism. The main aspects of historical and geographical research in the field of tourism are listed. The importance of an interdisciplinary approach in scientific research in this area is emphasized. The experience of recreational and tourist zoning of Russia in the second half of the XX-beginning of the XXI century is considered. The examples of the most interesting zoning schemes are given and analyzed.
