Increasing noise impact in cities is associated with the rapid growth of the motor vehicle fleet. The paper studies the dynamics of noise levels inside the residential area of the large city. The residential area is remote from highways. Measurements were taken on the building facade from the courtyard side and from the driveway side. The analyzed data were obtained at two altitude levels: at the surface level and at the height of about 25 meters (above the tree crowns). We detected daily, weekly and seasonal features of the noise impact dynamics. The analysis showed that in the middle of the residential area on weekdays the daily dynamics of the noise level depends on traffic and has morning and evening maximums. In summer, a significant spread of values in the noise level is recorded, due to the protection of the upper floors by the leafy crown of trees, while in winter, the spread of values in the noise level is insignificant. The results of the study indicate the necessity to take into account the number of storeys and building orientation in the middle of the residential area when modeling the spread of noise impact and optimizing the monitoring network in summer.
