Annotation
The relevance of the work is due to the post-Soviet degradation of the rural ecological space of a typical agricultural region of Northern Kazakhstan — the North Kazakhstan region. The post-Soviet deep socio-economic processes caused massive external and internal migration of the population, negative natural population growth. The purpose of the study is to analyze the determinants that caused the large-scale socio-demographic crisis in rural areas of the North Kazakhstan region. The following research methods were chosen: basket analysis, historical-geographical, geoinformation, statistical analysis. An analysis of the main demographic indicators and the age structure of the population, which has undergone drastic changes in the form of a threefold increase in people of living age, indicates a steady depopulation. Administrative intervention measures are proposed that can stabilize the situation in the medium term.
