Annotation
The article presents a retrospective geodemographic analysis of changes in the number and composition of the population of the European North of Russia at the turn
of the XX–XXI centuries. For this purpose, data from the Federal State Statistics Service © Никитин Д. Е., Шульгина О. В., 2025 (Rosstat) was used, with the main focus on population census data. The study identified the factors influencing the change in the number and composition of the population in the region,
as well as the dynamics of these changes in a number of key demographic indicators (population size and location, natural growth, migration, gender and age composition, etc.). The main results are illustrated by the author’s maps. Based on the results of the work performed, it can be concluded that at the turn of the century, a stable demographic crisis was recorded in the European North, which negatively affects the socio-economic development and quality of life of the region’s population.
