Annotation

Today, the theme of relations in the Nature – Society system has come to the forefront of public discourse. This discourse again raises the question of rethinking the concept of geographical determinism. As people’s environmental claims grow, as scientific and technological progress develops, and as we move towards a post-industrial economy, geographical determinism is not cancelled, but revived in a new capacity. Never before in the history of mankind has the environmental agenda had such an impact on economic development. Today we can speak of geographical neo-determinism. The main manifestation of the revival of the theory of geographical determinism in the modern era in practice is the concept of ‘Sustainable Development’, which has become the official doctrine of the UN and has a significant impact on the development of the entire world economy in the XXI century.
